This part is based on a student's:

• overall musicianship (set-up, warm-up, conduct, participation, etc.)

• knowledge of music (style, form, technical accuracy, etc.)

• preparation for class (having your instrument, music, pencil, and all necessary equipment at every rehearsal)

• playing tests (intermediate and advanced students only, tests assigned or unassigned and performed during class)
• practice cards (due each week)
   

Performance Attendance
The band counts on every member being there for their performances.  Therefore, it is required that if you can not attend, a written note signed by a parent or guardian must be presented to the band director at least two weeks prior to a performance.  This  gives the band time to adjust and make necessary changes to accommodate the missing parts.  If a concert must be missed, an exam will be prepared covering the terms, symbols, and other pertinent information found in the music of that particular concert.  See the band handbook for details.
