Hooray! Welcome to first grade!  My name is Mrs. Sears and I will be your teacher this year!  I am so excited to be teaching first grade.  We are going to have so much fun this year learning new and exciting things! Let me tell you a few things about me:

I graduated from the University of North Florida's teaching program.  Since then I taught in Jacksonville for three years, grades 2 , 3, and 4. Then I moved to Yulee Elementary and taught 3rd and 4th grades for four years.  Three years ago, I made the move to Callahan Elementary and have taught first grade! I am so glad that I did!  First grade is so exciting!

I am married to a wonderful man named Jason. I have two beautiful children: Mackenzie who is 6 1/2 and Harrison who is 5 1/2. Boy do they keep me busy! I'm sure you will get to know them if you don't already.  Mackenzie will be in first grade, like you!  Harrison will be in Kindergarten.

 I love to READ! I am always reading. I read on the internet trying to find new ideas for teaching you. I read professional books to learn more about teaching. I read the newspaper to find out about the world. I read magazines and fictional books for pleasure. Right now I am reading a great book that is giving me ideas for teaching you how to read called Growing Readers. I can't wait to share with you some of the ideas in this book.  Of course, I am also reading a lot of children's books that I want to share with you.  You'll have to wait until school starts to find out about those. Ü
